What to expect in High SchoolFinally, junior high is over! You’ve graduated into teenage-hood and you are ready to experience the greatness that is high school. The gleaming hallways, the excitement of the classroom, the thrill of making new friends, and the fear of making mistakes are all there mixing within your chest. High school is the stepping stone to college life, education and experiences, but high school is also something incredible all on its own.Entering high school can be a challenging experience; one that you are excited about or one that you dread. After a few days in high school it no longer seems like a high step forward that you imagined it would be. High school usually covers grades nine through twelve, depending on your local school system. Students will have the opportunity to progress from their freshman year, sophomore year, junior year, and finally their senior year before they graduate. Once a student graduates from grade twelve he or she can continue their education in college or another place of higher education. How High School WorksThe school year may be divided out into a semester or quarter. There are a number of courses that are required that a student take during the set time. Sports are also offered in high school that may be more competitive and more challenging to the students. High school may also offer a sports program that may help selected students receive scholarships that will help them pay for college after graduation from high school.A high school student will also have the opportunity to take the standardized tests to determine how ready they are for college. These tests are called PSAT and SAT. High school can be a time to help the students determine what they want to do when they graduate and give them opportunities to help them reach their goal in a structured environment. When it is impossible for a high school student to graduate they can take a GED. A person who has dropped out of school can receive their GED after studying for the test. This can be offered in your local community or online. Once you pass the exam you will be issues a GED which will allow you to go on to college or to get the job that you want. A GED is accepted almost anywhere a high school diploma is.How does High School affect your Social life?Socializing in high school is a part of growing up. It’s different from when you started kindergarten. It’s not always easy for everyone to enter high school and adapt and some struggle while others have no problems. It is very important that a student be themselves during this time in their life in order to be happy with the person they turn out to be.It’s important to have a positive outlook on your high school years in order to get through them with minimal complications. The friends that you had in elementary and middle school may have moved on by the time that you have entered high school but you will make new friends as you go along. When you enter high school keep a positive attitude about it. High school gives you an opportunity to choose your career path and help you to get your career started on the right foot. If you are not sure of what direction that you want to go when you graduate your high school has a guidance counselor that can help you figure out all your career choices based on your interests, passion to succeed, and your potential.
